His background on the other side of the fence in IT infrastructure means he can easily cut through complexities and jargon, providing clear advice on security technologies.
James has a broad remit in endpoint security research, conducting in-depth analysis of malware and penetration testing to identify attack vectors and trends in the evolving security landscape. His background in Forensic Computing and active involvement in the security research community makes him an expert voice on cyber security.
John is a highly respected tech writer with an eye for exclusives. He started his career as technical editor of Personal Computer magazine before co-founding Techworld. He is also a freelance writer for numerous technical publications, offering a balanced perspective on IT news.
Russell is an independent IT consultant and tech writer, specialising in the security of Windows systems. He is a published author, with book credits including Least Privilege Security for Windows XP, Vista and XP. As a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer with over 10 years’ experience, Russell is also an IT trainer and can translate complex issues into simple solutions.
Sami is a Windows expert and a popular speaker at industry events where his lively demonstrations draw in the crowds. Sami is a self-professed ethical hacker and uses examples of real operating system vulnerabilities to advise global companies on security solutions. He is also a partner at Finland’s largest IT training company.
Katy is passionate about all things Customer Success. Her years spent working alongside customers to ensure that they successfully adopt, implement and obtain the original benefits sought from security solutions means that she is an experienced voice on every aspect of the customer journey.
Chris has spent more than 15 years designing enterprise software, and now leads the design of Avecto’s product set – including user and customer research, interaction design, and usability testing. He’s passionate about sharing the knowledge he has, and learning more.
John leads the research department at Avecto, developing cutting-edge innovative projects that drive Avecto forward as a leader in the industry. With extensive experience of developing security products for the Windows operation system, he has a deep understanding of Windows internals and expertise in reverse engineering. John is relied upon to provide technical insight and assistance in developing solutions to complex challenges.
Gareth has worked in support roles full time since 2009, beginning in standard Windows Desktop support for various local governments, before transitioning into application support. As a Technical Support Engineer for Avecto since January 2013, he provides all levels of support from first line queries through to complex third line investigation. In his spare time he is an avid musician and console gamer.
Dan Raywood is a journalist and former 451 Research analyst with 15 years’ experience. Notably, Dan was a journalist covering IT and information security for five years from 2008 to 2013 for SC Magazine, and between September 2013 and April 2015 he was the relaunch editor of IT Security Guru where he interviewed CISOs, users and vendors from across the world.
He has spoken at events including 44CON, Infosecurity Europe, Software Industry Research Board conference and SC Congress and he has hosted numerous webinars.

Paula is the CEO of CQURE, a penetration tester, Microsoft Enterprise Security MVP and a Microsoft Security Trusted Advisor.
A regular and well respected speaker at many security conferences including RSA, TechEd Europe and TechEd North America, Paula is often rated as number one speaker. Internationally respected, Paula’s distinct specialization relates to Microsoft security solutions in which she holds multiple Microsoft certifications. Paula has written numerous articles on Windows Security and is a published author on the subject of endpoint security.
Nic has spent 20 years in the IT support arena across a wide range of industries both in a consultative capacity and in permanent roles. More recently Nic spent many years as an IT Service Delivery Manager both internally and subsequently in a global managed service environment.
Creating a world class customer experience at Avecto is Nic’s self-appointed target, not only via the 24/7 support department but through every stage of the customer engagement. PRINCE2 and ITIL qualifications as well as a dedicated and highly technical, customer focused team of engineers and strict attention to detail, allow Nic to deliver and continue to improve a great customer experience for Avecto’s fast growing customer base.
As VP of Strategic Alliances at Avecto, Ananth oversees the company’s business development, partnering initiatives and Go-To-Market execution with large System Integrators and Strategic Outsourcers (SI/SOs), as well as the Reseller Channel in the Americas.
Ananth also leads Avecto’s business relationships with several of the leading Cybersecurity ISVs, with the aim of building deeper technology integration and delivering integrated solutions – a key and strategic element of the company’s technology vision and roadmap.
A big believer of leveraging partnerships to enhance customer value, Ananth is passionate about enabling companies to create new market offerings and channels, and net-new business and revenue streams through strategic alliances.”
D.J. Long is Head of the Security Innovation Alliance at Intel Security. D.J. joined Intel Security in August of 2015 following nearly nine years at EMC, where he most recently led Technology Alliances and Business Development at VCE (previously a joint venture between EMC and Cisco with investment from VMware and Intel).
As one of the founding executives of VCE, D.J. helped grow the company to over $2B in annual revenue. Earlier in his career, he led the RSA Strategic Technology Alliances and Business Development team where he led the RSA partner ecosystem, and managed a wide range of acquisitions, strategic investments, divestitures, and OEM partnerships.
Previously, D.J. has held business development, channel management, and corporate development roles at Avaya, VoIP provider iBasis, and Avid Technology. D.J. is a graduate of Boston College. He and his wife live outside Boston in Wayland, Massachusetts and have two adult children.
With a background in sociology, Jessica specializes in the human side of cyber security. Jessica is regularly engaged by FTSE100 companies, central government and SMEs across the defense, health, financial and retail sectors to advise organizations how they can keep their information safe while getting the most out of it.
Jessica’s consultancy work involves leading and delivering information security audits, from which she develops road-maps which take organizations on a journey of improved cyber security maturity.
Jessica also specializes in learning and development packages which raise cyber security awareness and, using an approach rooted in behavioral economics, change behaviors to address the challenge of cyber security’s biggest weakness: the human element.
Ian is a Senior Technology Consultant at Avecto and helps organizations get the most out of their security software. For approaching ten years’ Ian has helped implement successful security deployments in global banks, financial institutions and professional services firms across the globe.
